Analogies & Odd One Out

Find how words are linked, and which one doesn't belong. Print a fresh sheet with its answer key, or try one on screen.

How to play

  1. For an analogy, say how the first two words are linked in a sentence: a young cow is a calf. Then use the same sentence for the second pair.
  2. For odd one out, find what four of the words have in common.
  3. Each question has one best answer, and the answer key explains it.

What it exercises

Vocabulary and sorting things into groups. Saying the link out loud is a good habit for reading and writing too.

Levels

  • Easy Baby animals, animal sounds, opposites, very different groups.
  • Medium Homes, groups, tools, parts, closer groups.
  • Hard Measuring tools, workplaces, what things are made from, close science groups.
