Tokyo Tech Physics Solutions Guide
The Tokyo Institute of Technology (東京工業大学, Tokyo Tech) was one of Japan's leading universities of science and engineering. On October 1, 2024, it merged with Tokyo Medical and Dental University to form the Institute of Science Tokyo (東京科学大学, Science Tokyo). Its science and engineering side, listed by the university as 理工学系 (旧・東京工業大学), still sets its own written entrance exam. The physics paper has three big questions (大問) in 120 minutes. Nothing is multiple choice: you write out each result as a formula or a number, and each big question tells one long story, step by step. The university posts only its most recent paper online, so this guide starts with 2026 and will add each new year as it appears.
About these pages. The entrance exam problems are © the Institute of Science Tokyo (東京科学大学) and other rights holders, so we don't reproduce their problems or figures here. Each year links to the official problems on the university's past exam page (in Japanese).
The university does not publish model answers. The topic labels, solutions and results here are our own, worked out from scratch: our solutions, not official ones. Parts that depend on the paper's own figure or answer choices, or that we are not yet sure of, are marked "Solution coming".
