Use the site without a connection

Keep the parts you use most on this device. Lessons, ladder practice, the planner and most games then work on a plane, in the car or anywhere the internet is slow. When the site changes, only the changed files download.

Checking what is saved…

Choose what to keep offline

Tick the sections you want. The sizes are what they take on this device. Every choice also saves the site basics: the home page, menus, styles and search (a few MB).

Two ways to use the site offline

1. Save sections in your browser

Use the list above. It works on phones, tablets and computers, in Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox.

  1. Tick the sections you want and press Save my choices. Keep this page open until it says it is done.
  2. For an icon of its own, install the app. In Chrome or Edge, press Install the app above, or use the install icon in the address bar. On an iPhone or iPad, open the site in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, open the browser menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
  3. When the site changes, you will see Update available with its size. Press Update and only the changed files download.

2. Download a copy for a computer

The download kit keeps a full copy of the sections you pick in a folder on a Mac, Windows or Linux computer. Nothing to install.

  1. Download the kit (a small zip file) and unzip it where you like.
  2. Open the folder and double-click Get or Update Sections. Pick the sections you want by number. It downloads them and, later, only what changed.
  3. Double-click Start Teddy Rook Book. The site opens in your browser from your own computer, at http://localhost:8317. Close the small window to stop it.

On a Mac, the first time, right-click the file and choose Open. On Windows, if a blue box appears, choose More info, then Run anyway. On Linux, run ./start.sh and ./update.sh.

Good to know

  • Your saves stay on your device. Learner profiles, progress and planner notes are kept in your browser, online or not. The download kit runs at its own address, so it keeps its own saves. To move them, use My Progress to save a file and load it in the other copy.
  • Some things always need the internet: Markets and its live data, Free Books, Your Tax Receipt, YouTube videos, the recorded Greek Gospel readings and links to other websites.
  • Pages you did not save show a short note when there is no connection, with a link back to what you have.
  • Space: a phone or tablet may clear saved websites when it runs very low on space. Safari can also clear them for a site you have not opened in a while, unless it is on your Home Screen. If that happens, choose your sections again.
  • Nothing downloads unless you ask. Visiting the site does not save anything large on your device.
