Steps

You’ll need: rimmed baking sheet, toaster, toothpicks, serrated knife.

  1. Heat the oven to 400°F. Lay the bacon on a foil-lined baking sheet and bake 15 to 18 minutes, until crisp. Drain on paper towels.
  2. Toast the bread and spread one side of each slice with mayonnaise.
  3. For each sandwich: top a slice of toast with turkey and ham, then a second slice, mayo side up. Add 2 strips of bacon, lettuce and tomato, and finish with a third slice, mayo side down.
  4. Push 4 toothpicks into each sandwich and cut it into 4 triangles with a serrated knife. Remove the toothpicks before giving it to young children.
Make aheadBake the bacon up to 3 days ahead and keep it in the fridge; warm it briefly or use it cold.
🧒 With kidsMake a simpler double-decker for small hands, and leave off whatever they do not like.
Dairy-free swapMayonnaise has no milk; check the bread label.
Gluten-free swapUse gluten-free bread and check the bacon and ham labels.
