Steps

You’ll need: butter knife.

  1. Spread 4 slices of bread with peanut butter (or sunflower seed butter) all the way to the edges; this keeps the jam from soaking in.
  2. Spread jam on the other 4 slices, add banana if you like, and close the sandwiches.
  3. Cut and pack. Make sandwiches the night before if mornings are rushed.
Make aheadMake up to 1 day ahead; keep refrigerated.
❄️ FreezerPeanut butter and jam sandwiches (without banana) freeze for up to 1 month; pack frozen and they thaw by lunch.
🧒 With kidsUse a cookie cutter for fun shapes. Check your school rules on nuts before packing peanut butter.
Gluten-free swapUse gluten-free bread.
