Steps

You’ll need: rimmed baking sheet, paring or grapefruit knife.

  1. Set an oven rack about 4 inches from the broiler and heat the broiler.
  2. Rinse the grapefruit before cutting. Run a paring knife around each segment so it lifts out easily later.
  3. Set the halves cut side up on the baking sheet. Brush with butter if using. Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over the tops.
  4. Broil 4 to 6 minutes, watching closely, until the sugar bubbles and browns. Cool 2 minutes and serve with a spoon.
Make aheadSection the halves up to 1 day ahead; cover and refrigerate.
🧒 With kidsKids can sprinkle the sugar. Grapefruit can interact with some medicines, so check labels if anyone in the family takes them.
Dairy-free swapSkip the butter.
