Pre-KMore, Fewer, Same

Which Has Fewer?

Tell which group has fewer.

Not started Jump to practice

Fewer means a smaller number. If there are 2 frogs and 4 fish, there are fewer frogs. Fewer is the opposite of more.

Are there fewer frogs or fewer fish?

Key idea

The group with fewer runs out first when you match them up.
For the grown-up: Use the word “fewer” in daily life: “You have fewer blocks than me. Let’s count!” Match things up one to one, and the group that runs out first has fewer. A few problems on the screen is plenty. The real practice is with things you can touch.
  • Try it at home: Which plate has fewer crackers?
  • Pair up socks: which pile runs out first?
  • Compare two towers by counting blocks.
