Morning, Afternoon and Night

Tell the times of day from the sky.

Not started Jump to practice

Morning is when the sun comes up and we wake. Afternoon is when the sun is high. Night is dark, with the moon and stars.

Morning, afternoon and night.

Key idea

A day goes morning, then afternoon, then night.
For the grown-up: Talk about the time of day often: “It’s morning, time for breakfast.” Look out the window at the same time each day. Notice when it gets dark. Stop while it is still fun. Then go and play the real-life version.
  • Try it at home: Name the time of day at each meal.
  • Look at the sky in the morning and at night.
  • Draw a morning picture and a night picture.
