Shapes All Around

Find circles, triangles and rectangles in real things.

Not started Jump to practice

Shapes are everywhere! A clock is like a circle. A door is like a rectangle. A slice of pizza is like a triangle.

A clock, a door and a slice of pizza. What shape is each one like?

Key idea

Real things can look like shapes we know.
For the grown-up: Go on a shape walk inside or outside. Name the shapes you see: round wheels, rectangle doors, triangle roofs. Take turns finding one. Stop while it is still fun. Then go and play the real-life version.
  • Try it at home: Go on a shape walk.
  • Spot shapes in a picture book.
  • Make a shape picture from cut paper.
