Pre-KMore, Fewer, Same

The Same Number

See when two groups have the same number.

Not started Jump to practice

Sometimes two groups have the same number. Every cat gets one bowl, with no cats and no bowls left over. That’s the same!

One bowl for each cat. Are they the same?

Key idea

The same number means each one has a partner, with none left over.
For the grown-up: Setting the table is great practice: one plate for each person, one cup for each plate. Ask “Do we have enough?” and “Is it the same?” Keep screen time short: two or three problems, then play.
  • Try it at home: Set one spoon by each bowl.
  • Give each toy animal one block.
  • Count two piles and see if they match.
