Pre-KPatterns

AAB and ABB Patterns

Find what comes next when one part repeats twice.

Not started Jump to practice

Some patterns have two of one thing: clap, clap, stomp. Clap, clap, stomp. The part that repeats is three long.

Star, star, moon … what comes next?

Key idea

Find the part that repeats. Then keep it going.
For the grown-up: Do AAB patterns with sounds and movement: jump, jump, sit. Use snacks: cracker, cracker, raisin. Saying the pattern out loud helps a lot. Keep screen time short: two or three problems, then play.
  • Try it at home: Jump, jump, sit, jump, jump, sit.
  • Line up spoon, spoon, fork.
  • Make a pattern with stickers.

Practice

Pass with 3 right answers, the last 2 in a row. Each right answer earns 1 XP.
