Let’s count bigger groups, up to 10. Things can be in a row, in a circle or all mixed up. Touch each one, and keep track of which ones you counted!
Key idea
In a jumble, touch each one and keep track. Tapped ones are done.
For the grown-up: For a jumble, show your child how to push each counted thing to one side. A row, a circle and a pile of the same things all give the same count. Try it with 8 pebbles. A few problems on the screen is plenty. The real practice is with things you can touch.
- Try it at home: Count 10 pebbles or leaves on a walk.
- Count toy cars in a circle, then in a line.
- Count grapes cut in half on a plate.
