Pre-KWhere Is It?

Above, On and Under

Say where something is: above, on or under.

Not started Jump to practice

Where is it? The bird is above the table, up high. The ball is on the table. The cat is under the table, down low.

Where is the cat?

Key idea

Above means higher. On means touching the top. Under means below it.
For the grown-up: Play a hiding game with a toy: put it on, under or above things and let your child say where. Then let your child hide it and tell you where. Short and happy beats long. Five minutes is a good lesson.
  • Try it at home: Put a toy on, under and above a chair.
  • Play “Simon says, hands above your head”.
  • Ask: what is under the bed?
