Greek core word #14 · noun · 1307 times in the New Testament
θεός
theh-OSθεός, θεοῦ, ὁ (ἡ) — God, god
- Second declension masculine; oxytone, so the genitive and dative take a circumflex (θεοῦ, θεῷ, θεῶν, θεοῖς).
- Vocative θεέ only at Matt 27:46; elsewhere the nominative ὁ θεός is used in address. Feminine ἡ θεός “goddess” (Acts 19:37).
Forms in bold occur in the New Testament; the others complete the pattern. A dash (—) marks a form that does not exist.
