λέγω
LEH-gohλέγω, ἐρῶ, εἶπον, εἴρηκα, εἴρημαι, ἐρρέθην — say, speak, tell
- Suppletive: future ἐρῶ, aorist εἶπον, perfect εἴρηκα and aorist passive ἐρρέθην come from other stems.
- εἶπον is a 2nd aorist, but the NT often uses 1st-aorist endings: εἶπαν (95×), εἴπατε, εἶπας, εἶπα, εἰπάτω(σαν), ptc. εἴπας; imperative εἰπόν beside εἰπέ.
- Future ἐρῶ is contracted like a liquid future (ἐρεῖς, ἐρεῖ); NT perfect 3 pl also εἴρηκαν.
Forms in bold occur in the New Testament; the others complete the pattern. A dash (—) marks a form that does not exist.
