Greek core word #13 · pronoun · 1385 times in the New Testament
οὗτος
HOO-tosοὗτος, αὕτη, τοῦτο — this; he, she, it
- Rough breathing where the article has one (οὗτος, αὕτη, οὗτοι, αὗται), τ- where the article has τ-.
- Stem -ου- before an ο/ω ending, -αυ- before α/η: τούτου but ταύτης, ταῦτα. Neuter τοῦτο has no -ν.
- In predicate position it means “this”: οὗτος ὁ ἄνθρωπος / ὁ ἄνθρωπος οὗτος; alone “he, this one”. διὰ τοῦτο “therefore”.
Forms in bold occur in the New Testament; the others complete the pattern. A dash (—) marks a form that does not exist.
