Greek core word #51 · pronoun · 333 times in the New Testament
ἑαυτοῦ
heh-ow-TOOἑαυτοῦ, ἑαυτῆς, ἑαυτοῦ — himself, herself, itself; themselves
- Reflexive: no nominative; it points back to the subject (“himself, herself, itself”).
- The plural also serves the first and second persons: “ourselves, yourselves, themselves”.
- Contracted αὑτοῦ, αὑτῷ, αὑτόν … (rough breathing!) also occur; do not confuse with αὐτοῦ.
Forms in bold occur in the New Testament; the others complete the pattern. A dash (—) marks a form that does not exist.
