What's in the book

Lesson 103 is drill 125: capital Q and the word "Quelling", with a note on even spacing.

The lesson, step by step

  1. Warm up

Two or three minutes of your usual movement drills: compact ovals, then a line each of small o, m and l.

  2. Look at the model

Open the book page. Look at drill 125. Capital Q is simply a large figure 2 (Lesson 83), and the book says it is a good movement drill.

  3. What the book says

In all your word practice a special effort should be made to space the letters evenly.

  4. Capital Q as a movement drill

Three lines of capital Q in groups of five, moving the paper after each group. Swing the pen over the first letter in the air before each line.

  5. The word

Four lines of "Quelling." Keep the pen on the paper from the beginning to the end of the small letters, and the word no bigger than the copy. Halfway through, check the position and the light grip.

  6. Gentle check

Look at the spaces between the letters of one "Quelling." Are they even?

  7. Finish

Write a name or word of your own that starts with Q.
