What's in the book

Lesson 92 is drill 114: capital C, then the words "Calling" and "Chiming".

The lesson, step by step

  1. Warm up

Two or three minutes of your usual movement drills: compact ovals, then a line each of small o, m and l.

  2. Look at the model

Open the book page. Look at drill 114: a line of capital C in groups of five, then "Calling" and "Chiming".

  3. Capital C as a movement drill

Three lines of capital C in groups of five, moving the paper after each group. Swing the pen over the first letter in the air before each line.

  4. The word

Four lines of "Calling." Keep the pen on the paper from the beginning to the end of the small letters, and the word no bigger than the copy. Halfway through, check the position and the light grip.

Optional speed target: fifteen or more words a minute, for "Calling" and "Chiming" alike.

  5. Chiming

Two lines of "Chiming," the second word in the drill.

  6. Gentle check

Your child picks the best C and the best "Calling" on the page and says what makes them good.

  7. Finish

Write a name or word of your own that starts with C.
