What's in the book

Lesson 90 is drill 112, small j and z.

The lesson, step by step

  1. Warm up

About three minutes: compact ovals, then a line each of small o, small m and small l (drills 3, 11, 14 and 33).

  2. Look at the model

Open the book page. Look at drill 112.

The j begins like a small i and ends with a loop.

The book makes the loops of j and z the same length below the line as y and g. Small z needs careful attention.

  3. Rows of j

Three lines of connected j in groups of five. Dot after each group.

  4. Rows of z

Three lines of z, comparing with the copy after each line.

  5. Gentle check

Are the j loops the same length as a g loop? Write a g next to one to check.

  6. Finish

    Write "jazz" and "jump".
