The Palmer Method of Business Writing · Lesson 87 · Part 12: More capitals and reviews
82. Drill 108: review of F, H, K, M, N
Goal: Your child reviews five loop-beginning capitals until each improves clearly.
You'll need
- Wide-ruled lined paper (several sheets)
- A sharp pencil or a smooth gel pen
- The book open at today's page
- A watch, clock or phone timer that shows seconds (only for the optional speed check)
What's in the book
Lesson 87 is drill 108, a review of capitals F, H, K, M and N, with a speed for each.
The lesson, step by step
Warm up
About three minutes: compact ovals, then a line each of small o, small m and small l (drills 3, 11, 14 and 33).
Look at the model
Open the book page. Look at drill 108: rows of F, H, K, M and N.
Work faithfully on every letter. Repeat the forms over and over until decided improvement can be seen.
A line or two of each
Two lines each of F, H, K, M and N. Study length, width, curves and joins.
Speeds
Optional speed target: F fifty, H thirty-five, K thirty-five, M thirty-five, N forty a minute.
Gentle check
Your child ranks the five letters from best to worst. Tomorrow's warm-up gets an extra line of the worst.
Finish
Write "Mr. and Mrs. Hall".
