What's in the book

Lesson 86 is drill 107, the word "Humming" three times to a line, which the book calls an excellent movement-developer.

The lesson, step by step

  1. Warm up

About three minutes: compact ovals, then a line each of small o, small m and small l (drills 3, 11, 14 and 33).

Then a line of capital H.

  2. Look at the model

Open the book page. Look at drill 107: "Humming" three times on a line.

  3. Half a page

Keep the hand up in front of the eyes and drive the pen lightly. Watch size, general appearance and space between letters.

Try to write each line better than the preceding.

  4. Study the work

After half a page, stop and study it together. What went well? What wobbled?

  5. Gentle check

Point to the best line. Is it near the end of the page? (It often is.)

  6. Finish

    Write "humming bird".
