The Palmer Method of Business Writing · Lesson 85 · Part 12: More capitals and reviews
80. Drills 105 and 106: capital K
Goal: Your child writes capital K, with the loop of the last part catching the first part a little above the middle.
You'll need
- Wide-ruled lined paper (several sheets)
- A sharp pencil or a smooth gel pen
- The book open at today's page
- A scrap of paper to cover part of the letter
What's in the book
Lesson 85 is drill 105, a study of the last part of K, and drill 106, rows of capital K. K begins exactly like H.
The lesson, step by step
Warm up
About three minutes: compact ovals, then a line each of small o, small m and small l (drills 3, 11, 14 and 33).
Then a line of capital H.
Look at the model
Open the book page. Look at drill 105. The beginning of K is the same size and shape as H.
Study it with the first part covered with a piece of paper. Turn the copy upside down and study it in that position.
Notice that the loop grasps the first part a little above the center.
Drill 105
Two lines of the last part of K.
Drill 106: rows of K
Three lines.
Optional speed target: thirty-five to forty a minute.
Gentle check
Your child compares their K's with the copy, as the book asks.
Finish
Write "Kate" or "Kit".
