What's in the book

Lesson 79 is a review lesson: constant repetition is needed, and the way to learn business writing is to practice business writing.

The lesson, step by step

  1. Warm up

About three minutes: compact ovals, then a line each of small o, small m and small l (drills 3, 11, 14 and 33).

  2. What the book says

Another thing for the student to bear in mind is the fact that the only way to learn to execute business writing is to practice business writing.

Review as many lessons as time permits.

  3. Pick three

Look back through the pages from Lessons 44 to 78. Your child picks three letters or words that need work. Two lines of each.

  4. Real writing

Write something real: a short note to a grandparent, a list, or two sentences about their day, using the new letters.

  5. Gentle check

Read the real writing together. Which letters looked like the book's? Which slipped back to old habits?

  6. Finish

Your child signs the note in their best hand.
