What's in the book

Lesson 74 is drill 90, small k in sets of five.

The lesson, step by step

  1. Warm up

About three minutes: compact ovals, then a line each of small o, small m and small l (drills 3, 11, 14 and 33).

  2. Look at the model

Open the book page. Look at drill 90. The book says to study the form before attempting the drill. Like b, f and h, small k grows from small l.

Keep the letters down to the size of the copies.

  3. Rows of k

Ten sets of five. Count "1, 2, 3" for each letter with a slight check (a tiny pause) on "2."

Optional speed target: fifty small k's a minute.

  4. Watch for

The loop of k the same height as l, and the letters no bigger than the copy.

  5. Gentle check

Is the k clearly different from h?

  6. Finish

    Write "kite" and "milk".
