What's in the book

Lesson 73 is drill 89, lines of "bill", "bell" and "billing".

The lesson, step by step

  1. Warm up

About three minutes: compact ovals, then a line each of small o, small m and small l (drills 3, 11, 14 and 33).

Then a line of small b.

  2. Look at the model

Open the book page. Look at drill 89: a line of "bill," a line of "bell," and a line of "billing."

Students are expected to practice the above words as movement drills.

  3. bill and bell

    Two lines of each.

Optional speed target: twenty to twenty-five words a minute; the book says form can improve at this speed while the movement develops.

  4. billing

    Two lines.

Optional speed target: twelve to fourteen a minute.

  5. Gentle check

Are the loops of b and l the same height in every word?

  6. Finish

    Write "bubble bath".
