What's in the book

Lesson 63 is drill 78, a further figure drill. The note on the following page says two weeks should be given to figures.

The lesson, step by step

  1. Warm up

About three minutes: compact ovals, then a line each of small o, small m and small l (drills 3, 11, 14 and 33).

  2. Look at the model

Open the book page. Look at drill 78 and the figures on the page.

  3. Practice the drill

A line of each figure in drill 78, small and the same height.

  4. Extra for the hardest

Two more lines of the figure marked as hardest yesterday.

  5. Gentle check

Can someone else read every figure without a single guess? Ask a sibling or another adult.

  6. Finish

Write the year in figures, then a short sum like 12 + 34 = 46.
