What's in the book

Lesson 28 is drill 29, a few lines of capital N followed by the word "Noon".

The lesson, step by step

  1. Warm up

Three to five minutes: compact ovals (drill 3), a line of small o (drill 11) and a line of small m (drill 14). This is the book's daily opening from now on.

  2. Look at the model

Open the book page. Look at drill 29: "Noon" written six times on a line.

  3. N as a movement drill

A line of capital N first.

Repeated letters and words should always be considered movement drills.

  4. Lines of Noon

Four lines of "Noon." The book asks your child to look closely at smooth lines, size, spacing, joins and the ending of the last n.

Optional speed target: fifteen to eighteen words a minute.

  5. Gentle check

Put the "Moon" page from yesterday next to today's. Which is smoother?

  6. Finish

Write "Noon" once, then "Nan" or "Nemo".
