What's in the book

Lesson 119 is drill 142, a line beginning "Faithfully fulfill all promises," with the note that uniformity may be hard to keep in this copy.

The lesson, step by step

  1. Warm up

Two or three minutes of your usual movement drills: compact ovals, then a line each of small o, m and l.

Then a line of capital F.

  2. Look at the model

Open the book page. Look at drill 142, a sentence beginning "Faithfully fulfill all promises." It is full of loops (f and l), so it is a good test of even height.

  3. A few lines

Write a few lines of the sentence.

  4. Find the faults

After writing a few lines pick out the faults and endeavor to correct them.

Your child circles two faults (a loop too tall, a gap too wide) and says how to fix them.

  5. A few more lines

Write a few more lines, fixing those two faults.

  6. Finish

Compare the first and last lines. Date the page.
