You'll need

  • A slate, small whiteboard or paper and pencil

What's in the book

Twenty-nine questions that review every table, such as "How many cents in 5 dimes?", "How many feet tall is a horse 15 hands high?" and "How many sheets of paper in 2 quires? In 2 reams?"

The lesson, step by step

  1. Pick the useful ones

Do the questions on money, weight, liquid and dry measure, length and time. Skip English money, troy and apothecaries' weight unless your child enjoyed them.

  2. Celebrate

This is the last lesson in the book. Your child has finished Ray's New Primary Arithmetic.

Afterwards

Next: Ray's New Intellectual Arithmetic, which takes the same ideas much further.
