What's in the book
The imperfect of regō and audiō, then a list of seven verbs that take a dative (believe, favor, injure, obey, persuade, resist, be eager for), with exercises.
The lesson, step by step
Review
Conjugate audiō in the present.
The imperfect
The tense sign is still -ba-:
regēbam, regēbās, regēbat, regēbāmus, regēbātis, regēbant
audiēbam, audiēbās, audiēbat, audiēbāmus, audiēbātis, audiēbant
The e of regō gets long; audiō adds an e before -ba-.

Agēbat, veniēbat, mittēbat, dūcēbant.
Then Exercise II.
Verbs that take the dative
Section 153. In Latin these verbs take a dative, because the idea is "give belief to", "show favor to", and so on: crēdō (believe), faveō (favor), noceō (injure), pāreō (obey), persuādeō (persuade), resistō (resist), studeō (be eager for). Learn the list with its meanings.
