22. Review of verbs; the dative with adjectives

The lesson, step by step
Review the verbs
Section 141: go through the present, imperfect and future of sum and of the verbs in section 129, aloud and in writing. Mix them up.
The dative with adjectives
Some adjectives take a dative: "friendly to the Romans", "near to the river". The book lists these to memorize: idōneus (fit, suitable), amīcus (friendly), inimīcus (hostile), grātus (pleasing), molestus (annoying), fīnitimus (neighboring), proximus (nearest, next).
Latin to English
Exercise I. Two of the sentences:
Gallī cōpiīs Rōmānīs inimīcī erant.
Cibus noster, Mārce, erit armātīs virīs grātus.
Find the adjective, then the dative that goes with it.
English to Latin

Learn the special vocabulary first. Then read section 146. The book says there are no new words in it. It is about Cornelia, the mother of Tiberius and Gaius Gracchus.
Wrap up
Your child says three phrases with the dative: "friendly to the farmer", "near to the town", "pleasing to the girl".
