Key Quotes
“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.” “I could easily forgive his pride, if he had not mortified mine.”
My Notes
This is one of my favorite comfort reads. Austen’s social commentary is sharp and hilarious even 200+ years later. Planning to revisit soon to think more about marriage and agency in 19th century literature. Status: 📖 To Read (first full read was years ago; want fresh notes) Related: Sense and Sensibility, Emma (also in Harvard Classics Shelf of Fiction).
