Four people, each one different: hair, hats, glasses, clothes and size.

Key idea

Hair, hats, glasses, clothes and size show who is who.

Why it works

In a picture of a family or a class, everyone needs to look like themselves. Small changes make each person easy to find.

Worked example: Let's look

Which person in the picture wears a sun hat?
  1. Look at the tops of the heads.
  2. Person D has a wide straw hat.

Answer: D.

Common mistake

Some children draw everyone exactly the same. Change at least one thing for each person: the hair, the clothes, the size or the glasses.

Draw your people.
For the grown-up. Ask your child to draw your family and tell you how they will show who is who: a beard, a favorite hat, a striped shirt, long braids.
