Key idea

The Liberty Bell is a symbol of freedom. "Liberty" means freedom.
These words are on the bell. Tap the big word.

Why it works

The bell was made in 1753 for the building where, years later, leaders signed the Declaration of Independence. Its words say to proclaim liberty, which means to tell everyone about freedom. People who worked to end slavery named it the Liberty Bell, and it became a symbol of freedom for everyone.

Common mistake

Some children think the bell still rings every day. It cracked long ago, so it is not rung anymore. It is kept safe where visitors can see it.
